Singing requires a body

By day I’m a librarian, doing librarian things and website things. Temperamentally, as my wife and two boys will confirm, I’m a little uptight. Physiologically, I live the life of a micro-serf, atrophying before a screen. None of this helps the act of singing, which requires that the body loosen and expand into space. The singer, in turn, must open out from whatever cramped existence he or she lives and, over time, learn to flow. I find the process fascinating, and not the least straightforward.
